This lot comprises nine bottles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape produced by M. Chapoutier in the French wine region of Rhône: three bottles of 1994 vintage La Bernardine and six bottles of 1999 vintage Barbe Rac.

The fame of Châteauneuf-du-Pape on the southern part of the Rhône dates back to the former papal residence. Today, papal insignia such as the tiara and the Keys of Heaven can still be found on the bottles. The vines grow on pebble scree, galets, which accelerate grape maturity in the hot climate to produce full-bodied, opulent wines. It’s typical for red and white Châteauneuf-du-Pape to be made from a variety of accepted grape varieties, however the most important is Grenache, the soul of these wines.

The 1994 vintage Bernardine was rated 89 points by Robert Parker in his 1997 Rhône Book. The 1999 vintage Barbe Rac was rated 92 points by Parker in 2001.

The fill levels are excellent (< 3 cm). One label is slightly damaged; the other labels and all capsules are in perfect condition.
