Description
A late 19th century silver and gold, cultured pearl and diamond brooch. Of openwork design, the old-cut diamond and diamond point scrolling foliate panel, with cultured pearl accents and old-cut diamond drop. Estimated total diamond weight 1.80cts, J-L colour, SI1-P1 clarity. Length 4.8cms. Weight 9.4gms.
Condition
The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Probably converted from another piece. Replacement brooch fittings. The piece has recently been cleaned to a high polish. One of the smaller diamonds has a chip to one edge. Most of the larger diamonds have abrasion to the facet edges. Varying inclusions, some surface reaching. Varying colour grades, few appear tinted. Grading limited by mount. The cultured pearls are well matched with uneven surface and strong lustre. Slight differences in overtones. Slight surface wear. The cultured pearls are within fitted cement-type mounts that cover the bases of the cultured pearls.
