Characteristic lithograph revealing Le Corbusier’s reduced organic style; the auction record for one of his lithographs in colors currently sets at around €40,000
Le Corbusier’s artistic approach was inspired by the thought of merging and harmonizing forms into each other. Since the late 1940s, the image of folded hands was thus a central motif in his artistic as well as architectural output. In this context, the present lithograph ‘Mains Croisees’ proves to be a very characteristic work by the artist.
The work is signed with pencil lower right ‘Le Corbusier‘ and numbered lower left ‘69/150’. The work is in good condition considering its age; the paper is slightly browned and shows minimal crease marks. The backside reveals light remains of an old mounting. The image size almost corresponds to the sheet size of 72 x 54 cm.
