The British photographer Robert Freeman is famous for his photographs of the Beatles and the design of their album covers; the auction record for a signed photograph by the artist is currently set at more than €9.800.
The British photographer Robert Freeman designed five Beatles albums, including the present second album ‘Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! A Hard Day's Night’ from 1964. Five different portraits of each of the four Beatles are displayed in four rows.
The record cover is signed lower center with silver marker ‘Freeman’. It is in good condition with slight signs of age and use and is affixed to a mat at the reverse upper edges. The frame is overall in good condition with slight signs of wear. The cover measures 31 x 31 cm. The framed dimensions are 58 x 58.5 cm.
Robert Freeman (b. 1936)
In 1957 the British photographer graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in English literature. He then worked as program director at the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London. From 1961 Freeman also worked as a photographer. He became famous when he met the Beatles in 1963 and accompanied them three years long to concerts all over the world. Freeman photographed and designed also five of their albums. Robert Freeman published many books, produced films and has presented his work in exhibitions worldwide. (fea)
