Yellow bronze. China, Qing dynasty, approx. 18th cent.
A rare bronze figure of the god of longevity Shoulao, also designed as the “star-deity†Shouxing; with characteristic high head, white beard and shown holding a ruyi scepter, one end of which is shaped as lingzhi (mushroom of longevity); with very finely done hair, coiffed back and secured by a knot with decorative plaits; very lively rendered facial expression and fingers; the attire presenting fine lively pleats and wide sleeves with floral border, continued on the upper border of the back. With dark patina.
