Glazed stoneware. China, presumably late Ming (1644)
A balanced, deep stretched form, standing on three slanted stumpy legs. The bottom of the pot is curved in a bowl-like manner. The black-brown glaze on the concise lip reaches slightly towards the inside, and convers the entire outside. The colour tone is deep-brown and lighter on the exposed areas (legs, lip), minor irregularities produce an enlivening effect, sporadically visible craquelure. The inside colour is mat-grey with patina due to usage, the inner surface curved upward. Very good condition.
