Matzah cover. Eretz Israel,[1920s, post 1925].
Printed silk.
A Matzah cover, printed, with three compartments for "Cohen, Levi and Israel". The ornamentation is printed on a background designed as a square Matzah. Printed on the right side: "Ko Amar Koresh Balfourâ€¦" continued on the bottom "Ashrei Ayin Ra'ata Kol Ele" (Hebrew, based on the Book of Ezra 1).
The main ornamentation is a circle. On its margins appears the printing: Ma Nishtanaâ€¦LeShana Haba'ah BeYerushalayim Habenuya". Within it are six medallions with depictions of various locations in Eretz Israel, titled in Hebrew: Western Wall, Hebrew University, the Dead Sea, the Port of Haifa, a Matzah factory in Eretz Israel. Next to the illustration of the Matzah Factory appears the inscription: VeKol HaMarbehâ€¦Harei ze Meshubach". In the center: a figure of a pioneer with a cow and a verse from the Book of Hosea: "VeHa'aretz ta'ane et HaDaganâ€¦". Four silhouettes of dancing pioneers, next to tents, appear on the lower part (after Gur-Aryeh) with the inscription: "Im Lo Achshav Eimatai!!!".
