um 1790/1800. Breite, leicht gekrümmte Klinge à la Montmorency, gebläut und vergoldet. Terzseitig allegorische Figur "Liberté", darunter Sinnsprüche "Vivre libre ou mourir" und "Pour le salut de ma patrie". Quartseitig allegorische Figur "La Nation" sowie Löwe und Hahn zwischen Spruchbändern "La vigillance et la force" und "Fonut succomber chaque atroce". Messingbügelgefäß, Stichblatt in Form zweier Fascienbündel, reliefierter Knöchelschild, den Kampf zwischen zwei Reitern darstellend. Griffrücken in antikisierenden Helm auslaufend, belederte Hilze mit doppelter Messingdrahtwicklung. Schwarze Lederscheide mit Messinggarnitur. Klinge etwas fleckig, Gefäß leicht verputzt und eingedrückt, Scheide mit Knick. Länge 90 cm. circa 1790/1800. Broad, slightly curved blade à la Montmorency, blued and gilded. An allegorical figure of "Liberté" is displayed on the obverse side, above the mottos, "Vivre libre ou mourir" (Live free or die) and "Pour le salut de ma patrie" (For the salvation of my country). On the reverse side, there is the allegorical figure of "La Nation" along with a lion and a cock between scrolls inscribed, "La vigilance et la force" (Vigilence and strength) and "Fonut succomber chaque atroce" (Force each atrocity to give way). Brass knucklebow hilt. Guard plate shaped as two fascine bundles. The knuckle guard shows a fight between two horsemen in relief. The grip back plate is topped with an ancient style helmet. Leather grip cover with double brass wire wrapping. Black leather scabbard with brass mountings. Blade somewhat stained. Hilt slightly worn by cleaning and dented. Scabbard has a kink. Length 90 cm.
