The book was purchased from a long time editor at Dutton, hence it comes with a letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA and has been "permanently marked with an invisible DNA daub that will fluoresce under a patented laser lamp." There are two jackets, the original first edition jacket with the $3.00 price, and a twelfth printing jacket with a $4.95 price. This is truly a classic, collector's item.

Original jacket edge worn and chipped along the top, large tear along the bottom edge of the front panel, fading of spine and bottom of front panel; twelfth printing jacket with moderate wear along the bottom edge and a label on the spine, glue residue to verso of front flaps; volume with spine ends and corners rubbed, slight stain to half title; very good in very good jacket, original jacket good only.
