HORACE MEEK HICKAM (1885 - 1934) Pioneer airpower advocate and an officer in the Army Air Corps. Killed in a flying accident. Hickam Field in Honolulu attacked by Japanaese aircraft on Dec. 7 1941 was named in his honor. Rare T.L.S. on War Dept. letterhead 1p. 4to. Washington Oct. 21 1919 to the editor of ""Flying"" endorsing the intent to issue a magazine commemorating the first flight by the Wright Brothers: ""...[I] think it proper to honor these men who did more to advance the cause of aeronautics than anyone else..."". Some lines crossing out text still very good.
