HEINRICH HIMMLER (1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremberg. Intriguing holograph penned beneath typed text on Hitler's personal ""Der Fuhrer"" letterhead 1p. 4to. Berlin. Oct. 8 1934. An early promotion document issued to SS-Gruppenfuhrer UDO VON WOYRSCH promoting him to the rank of SS-Obergruppenfuhrer effective Oct. 9 1934. Himmler amends the document changing the effective date to Jan. 1 1935 and adds five lines of explanation below. Himmler's notes aimed at von Woyrsch specify his change in title effective dates etc. File holes at left else fine. UDO VON WOYRSCH (1895-1983) SS No. 3689 was a personal friend of Himmler and a staff member. In September 1939 Woyrsch commanded an Einsatzgruppen which operated with such brutality in Kattowitz that outraged Wehrmacht officers interceded with the Gestapo to have the promotion withdrawn.
