ITALIAN COMBAT ENGINEER OFFICER'S UNIFORM World War II Italian combat engineer officer's uniform tunic and trousers. The gray wool tunic is fastened with four brass military motif buttons at front with four pleated pockets with flaps closing with similar smaller buttons. The lapel and sleeve ends are piped in purple denoting the officer's affiliation with the engineers and a section of gold metallic ribbon is sewn to the end of the left sleeve. The lapels are also trimmed with black velvet and each bears one bronze star. Shoulder boards have purple backing with a ""smoking bomb"" insignia in gold bullion. The jacket bears gray lining sewn throughout. An enameled fascist pin with fascia is et on the left breast pocket. The matching pants have a button fly and side pockets with wide black side trim also bearing purple piping. The ankles are closed with drawstrings. Some wear appears at the bottoms of three of the tunic pockets otherwise in excellent condition.
