Description
(CHINA) BOXER REBELLION EDWARD HOBART SEYMOUR (1840-1929) British Admiral of the Fleet. In December 1897 he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the China station. Service there was peaceful until the Boxer Rebellion when Seymour took command of a 2 000 man international force which marched overland to Peking. The Chinese repelled his forces en route and forced him to retreat to Tianjin. A.L.S. ""E. H. Seymour "" 1p. 8vo. July 5 1902. Inpart: ""…You did me the honor to express today a wish to have my photograph which I have therefore much pleasure in sending to you…"" Mounted. Light toning otherwise very good condition.
