Description
FREDERICK†SOLOMON (1899-1980) German Expressionist. He won the Mowbray Prize [1944] in London; was listed in WHO'S WHO IN ART [1954 London edition]. He studied art with such famous German artists as: Max Liebermann, Martin Brandenburg, Eugene Spiro & Willy Jaeckel [Masterclass]. Exhibitions: Berlin, Cologne, Capetown, Haifa, London [Royal Academy], U.S., and in 1958 had one-man show at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Havana, Cuba. In 1956 several of his paintings were exhibited at the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio. He died in the U.S. An early charcoal drawing unsigned circa 1930, approx. 21 x 16 in. on thin newsprint paper. There are some edge tears but they are not obtrusive. A major drawing by this artist.
