Description
Sevres Cobalt & Gold Enameled Tureen from the 'Service Iconographique Grec' . C. 1812. Sgn. With double eagle heads. Sevres mark and 1812 printed in red; gold script, 2juin BT. Green numerals, 13.cv.12. Ht. 9 1/2" W 12". Descended in the family of William Weightman. The tureen was used in his house in Mt. Airy, outside Philadelphia where he entertained lavishly. After his death, that house, Raven Hill, was given to the catholic church. They converted it into a girl's school. The china has been in the family for over 100 years, thence by descent.The collection of the Comtesse de Nadaillac (?)James B.
