Description
Hand painted and gilt fine white porcelain with white Pond Lilly or Tulip flowers in a characteristic Art Deco taste. Signed by the artist – DOUFOR. Marked green with a shield mark and a ribbon mark - PT BAVARIA HANDPAINTED CHINA, on the bottom. These marks stand for Porzellan Tirschenreuth of Bavaria, Germany, used between 1927 and 1954, but this particular plate was obviously a pre-war issue, likely from the 1930's. Another thing worth mentioning is that the ribbon mark indicates that the plate was factory painted, not a Hausemellerei (i.e home painted). Measurements: Approx. 8.5" diameter
