Description
Beautiful figurine of a robed little girl carrying a water pitcher. Finest German white porcelain. Marked on the back with the underglaze blue "Six-Spoked Wheel" mark of Hoechst. Hochst initially produced just faience. Around 1753 the company began producing only porcelain. Dates back to circa 1753-1796. Came tagged from a previous owner. It is inscribed in Flemish, but he or she had mistakenly dated the piece to the beginning of the 19th century. After much research, we can safely say that the figurine is most likely from the stated period above - mid to late 1700's. Measurements: Approx. 3.25" x 1.8" x 1.25"
Condition
A shallow flake on the bottom, affecting girl's foot. The handle detail of the pitcher is missing and was at one time repaired.
