A intrigued pair of figurines, done in a traditional Folk Art manner. Each one is all hand carved from one piece of hard wood. Depict a peasant man and woman in country attire. Date back to the period between the two World wars, c.1918 - 1938, the time between the creation of Czechoslovakia after the WWI and the German occupation in 1938, which led to the formation of Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. Came from Volary, South Bohemia today's Czech Republic. The man figure is signed in red with the German name of the city (Wallern), Czechoslovakia . Most likely and almost certainly a piece of folk art from the ethnic German population in Southern BohemiaMeasurements: Each is approx. 6.5" tall
