An eye-catching superbly carved stone head from the Renaissance period in Florence - XV - XVI c. AD, portraying a Jester.Made from a carved whitehard stone, which is likely unpolished marble or limestone. Inscribed by a museum curator or a former collector in French on the back FLEURANCE (GERB). Well displayed on a modern display stand. Measurements: Approx. 9" x 8" x 5" only the head, without pedestal. 11.5" tall with pedestal
Condition
Good state of preservation overall, ready for display. At one point it was probably painted yellow, as remains of it are still seen throughout. Looks like there was a restorer intervention or re-attachment on the left side of his "hair".
