The cigarette case is richly decorated with silver applications on front and back cover
Provenance: German private collection
The cigarette case is crafted of silver and decorated with personalized applications. The rectangular form of the case is fluted. The opener is operated via pushing a red cabochon. The front lid has four applied monograms as well as pictorial images of silver. Among those are a lyre, an elephant, a female figure and an angel. The back cover is adorned with the names Feodor, Nina, Esfir and Elena in Cyrillic, the initials ‘HK’ (NK), as well as the inscriptions on two small shields ‘B / ?? ??????(?) / 19 20/I 16’ and ‘?? ?????? ????????? ? ?????? ??????????’ (for future memory due to security of the past). The interior is engraved with ‘?? ?????? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?????? ??????????? ??? ?????? ???????????? 19 24/? 15 ?. ????’ (in memory of the dear friend Josef Begliarovich von Fedor Kotsubinsky).
The case is marked inside both covers with the master’s mark ‘?.?’ and the women’s head in right profile with fineness the ‘84’. The silver case is in very good condition. The gilt interior as well as the applications are partially still in place. The dimensions are 12 x 9 cm. (tm)
