This state militia cockade badge was made during the reign of Tsar Alexander III. who was Emperor of Russia from 1881-1894. It was originally introduced in 1812 for the State Militia soldiers. The badge in the shape of a cross pattée is decorated with the initials of Alexander III. in the center medallion The cross arms bear the Cyrillic inscription ‘For Faith, Tsar and Fatherland’.
The brass cross is in good condition with only slight signs of wear. On the reverse with four eyelets for mounting. The diameter is 4.1 cm.
