Rare Medal of Merit as a premium for workers, officers and merchants in the service of the Russian Empire

This rare Medal of Merit was designed by the Russian artist Anton Vasyutinsky around 1894. The obverse depicts the profile portrait of the last Tsar Nicholas II. (1868-1918) from the dynasty of the Romanovs, framed by an inscription. The reverse of the medal is decorated with intricate laurel and oak branches as well as with an inscription. Because of his unwillingness to reforms Tsar Nicholas II and his family was executed after the victorious February Revolution of 1917 by the Bolsheviks in 1918.
The medal is in good condition with slight marginal blemishes. The surface lightly worn. The eyelet was added later. The diameter is 5.2 cm, its weight is approx. 47 grams.
