Description
A hand painted porcelain plaque in the manner of Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (1708-1787) "Bussende Magdalena", depicting a reclining partially nude woman wearing a blue cloak and reading a book with lush forest background. Incised KPM and proper scepter mark on reverse. "Magdalena (Carr.)" Signed Sturm, L., lower right - listed as an independent porcelain painter in Dresden. See Robert Rontgen, The Book of Meissen, Atlgen, PA, 1996, p.321.
