Typed and annotated speech notes for Booker T. Washington's June 1, 1909 speech at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. The six page document begins with typed notes "Debt to Lincoln, Pioneer in Education", and ends with "Reasons for Hope, More like American, Georgia Strike, Hard Problem", with handwritten annotations throughout. Pages measure 8.5" x 5.5". Provenance: From the estate of Booker T. Washington. Note on provenance: Copy of letter from Booker T. Washington's granddaughter, Robin Washington Banks, confirming provenance is available upon request. Letter states her inheritance of the estate and its ultimate sale to the consignor of this lot.
