Pre-Columbian, Peru, northern coastal region, Moche II, Ca 300 to 400 CE. Â "Who" says the Moche aren't the finest potters in all of South America? Â This lovely stirrup vessel depicts a solitary owl perched atop a round base, his talons clearly exposed. Â Owls were revered as the creature who carried the sun to insure it always rose in the morning. Â Size:Â 6"H x 3-1/5"W.
