Description
Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer culture, ca. 12th century CE. Set of two cast bronze stands, circular open format with spiral decoration at ends, supported by four legs. These were likely used to display ceremonial objects. Bronze, a mixture of metals usually consisting primarily of copper and tin was the preferred medium for Khmer sculptures of Hindu and Buddhist divinities. To the Khmer, bronze was revered as an elite material that symbolized prosperity and success! Size: Each measures approximately 4-1/4"W (10.75cm) x 3-3/4"D (9.5cm) x 1-1/4"H (3cm) .
