Surrender of British General John Burgoyne to General Horatio Gates Finely Hand-Engraved Steel Printing Plate
c. 1870 Produced, Hand-Engraved Steel Printing Plate with a 1777 Battle of Saratoga Revolutionary War Scene, Choice Extremely Fine.
The historic Hand-engraving plate measures 47mm x 75mm x 4mm thick, 1.75” x 3” x 3/16” thick. This Steel Printing Plate depicts the Surrender of British General John Burgoyne to General Horatio Gates, after the British defeat by American forces at Saratoga. Side border designs show: bushel of Wheat at left, with Militaria and spear at right. Pleasing, clean silver-gray surfaces, the back of the plate unfinished, as made. Accompanied by an original protective cardboard sleeve. Unique and quite wonderful as such.
