Description
Massive finely detailed wood and brass builder's half-hull model of the steel screw steamer Eagle Point, mounted in a partial late 19th c. walnut display case. The ship built by Joseph L. Thompson & Sons Shipbuilding, England, 1900, for the Norfolk & North American Steam Shipping Co., Ltd., was sunk by a U-70 German submarine on March 28, 1916. Note: Must be removed on the day of the sale unless prior arrangements have been made. Half-hull model- 22"h.x102"l., beam 6". Case, as found- 23"h.x118"l.x12"d.
