Ben Sira, the Wisdom of Sirach. Parables and ethics. Calcutta, [1856]! Printed by the youngest of printers, Elazar ba"a Meiri Aharon Saadya Iraqi HaKohen.
30 leaves, 15.5 cm. One of the best known works of the Apocrypha. The introduction recounts why the author was known as Ben Sira and how Ben Sira was the son of Jeremiah the Prophet. These facts are not supported by Jewish tradition. The second section includes "Ma'ase Torah".
Rare book, not listed by the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book. The National Library does not have a complete copy. Simple binding. Repaired tear in the title page without loss of text. Aging stains. Fine condition.
