The present silk embroidery dates back to the late 19th century and features a Christian scene, depicting a martyr with a liturgical garment, who is guided on a pyre by Roman soldiers within an architectural background. The view of the saint is turned to the sky. His arms are raised in the gesture of martyrs and his palms are opened to the sky. Two angels with a martyr's palm and a crown hover above him. The textile work has been partly printed and partly embroidered with silk and silver threads by machine.
The work is in very good condition considering its age. The edges are slightly frayed. The wooden frame shows major wear marks. The size of the image is 43 x 30 cm, and the frame measures 50 c 37.5 cm. (cko)
