Miniature-like view in balanced nuances by Nuremberg born artist Georg Schwer, who received his artistic training under Carl Ferdinand Sohn and Rudolf Jordan in Düsseldorf.
This delicate miniature oil painting depicts an idyllic landscape executed in balanced nuances, created by the Düsseldorf painter Georg Schwer in the period around 1860. The viewer looks towards a distant village church, while two figures are strolling alongside the seemingly low tide riverbed.
The painting is signed lower left in brown ‘G. Schwer’. It is in very good overall condition. The painting measures 8 x 12 cm, the framed dimensions are 18.5 x 22.5 cm.
Georg Schwer (1827-1877)
Georg Schwer was born in Nuremberg in 1827. At the age of 13 he went to London in order to receive his artistic education. When returned to Dusseldorf he began to study under the Düsseldorf painter Carl Ferdinand Sohn (1805-1867) and Rudolf Jordan (1810-1877). He also undertook several study trips through Italy, France and Germany.
