Description
The Hoblitzell National Bank of Hyndman opened in 1903 after The National Bank of South Pennsylvania at Hyndman failed and was purchased by J.J. Hoblitzell and reorganized. This red seal is the discovery for the type and it is the earliest known national bank note for the town (no notes from charter 4063 are known to exist). Obviously Mr. Hoblitzell had a lot going on and probably wasn't at the bank on a day to day basis. This red seal was issued just a couple years after the bank reorganized yet we can see that a vice-president was the acting signor. This is certainly a piece of money that tells a story.
