Description
Description:
French brass box, early 20th century.
Boites de Cuivre. With stone inlayed in lid, possibly malachite. This old French boite-de-cuivre is a copy of the 17th Century 'objets de vertu', made of precious metals. Probably the most collected of all human-made objects are boxes. Whether made of paper with glue or gold with jewels, humans have produced all types, sizes and shapes of containers, we call boxes.
