Nina Simonovich studied in Paris, and in Moscow, under Valentin Serov; she later published a book of reminiscences about her teacher. She is remembered primarily as a stage artist and as the organizer of a shadow and puppet theater that she ran from 1918 to 1940. She also illustrated children’s books.
