Spanish Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí and cultivated an eccentric public persona with his flamboyant mustache, pet ocelot, and outlandish behavior and quips. “Each morning when I awake, I experience again a supreme pleasure,” he once said. “That of being Salvador Dalí.” This photograph by Luc Fournol depicts the artist in his ornate, cluttered office. Two nude females – one real and the other a mannequin – rest on the fireplace mantle, a third nude bust between them.
Executed in the twentieth century, this gelatin silver print is signed, with the artist’s copyright stamp verso. The sheet measures 20 x 15 7/8 inches. In overall good condition.
