Description
Twelve panel red coromandel screen, China, late 18th or early 19th century, lacquer over wood, each side depicting complex landscape scenes with many figures, landscapes are flanked by panels with birds and flowering branches, above the center panel is a series of landscapes, mirrored below by a series of still lifes, each panel 110" h x 21 1/2" w. Provenance: Purchased circa 1960 from the estate of the CEO of the Union Oil Company, thence to a lifetime private collection.
