Description
A large Etruscan footed kyathos, Italic, c. 7th - 6th Century BC, with tall pedestal base and flared foot, the bowl with angled bottom and sides decorated with four rounded ridges interspersed with incised vertical 'bands' and incised concentric circles. The handle is triangular in shape and formed from two parts which are surmounted by a stylized animal, also decorated with incised concentric circles, the inner portion of the handle with incised parallel lines. A well-formed vessel with crisp detail and nicely burnished grey-brown surfaces with light deposits. H: 8 1/3 in (21.1cm). Repaired. Ex South German private collection of an artist and art collector, purchased between 1960 to 1980.
