Description: "This is a lovely rosewood sewing box, circa 1870, with double brass stringing, ripple molding to the lid and a brass-lined lock escutcheon. The centre of the lid has a gilded painting of a castle under glass which adds so much to look of the box. The interior is fitted as a sewing box with a rear needle tray, a large central storage area and two small lidded compartments, their lids decorated with parquetry bands. A very unusual feature is a central lidded compartment which is hinged at the front. When the lid is opened , a pin cushion is revealed on its underside.

In good condition, apart from minor nicks, scratches, and signs of wear attributed to age and handling, minor cracking and dirt accumulation to the finishing, minor fading and distress to the velvet
