Many others on contemporary backings of various kinds. 8 have a serial number and caption inserted at lower corner of the image by the photography studio (“Iris Garden at Tokyo,” “Inasa, Nagasaki,” “View of Hakodate,” “Sokukura Hakoni,” “Prince’s Mansion,” “Garden Street Shiba, Tokyo,” “Funeral Bites Oniralanquin,” “Minamigama Hill at Nagasaki.”) 1 typewritten caption (“Atami Hot Spring.”) 2 handwritten captions: “Torii at Kioto. 1879.” and “At Tokio. 1879.” Others show children in costume with 1 playing a drum, buildings built on stilts on a floodplain, a city street, etc. 9 ½” x 8” to 8 7/8” x 10”.
