Description
around 1920s - 1930s. cca. 126 x 95 cm. Vintage poster. Paper, lithography. Simple but decorative poster for a shoe cream trademark. The "Bison" shoe cream was produced by the family company of Vince Benes, who was the publisher of this poster as well. The company was located in the 10th district of Budapest. Due to the style of the poster it might be published in the 1920s or 1930s. The poster follows a decorative late Art Noveau style which was typical in commercial advertisements in the time. It is a 'sachlich' poster, showing the trademark's package in large scale, putting it in the middle of the composition. The design was painted and drawn, the representation of the shoe cream's box is detailed and decorative. The script of the poster uses the same typography as the scripts of the package, it is a bit old fashioned but very elegant.
