1984. cca. 100 x 70 cm. Vintage poster. Paper, offset. Very vibrant and dinamic Poster for the famous folk dance group Mazowsze. The poster was designed by a Polish poster artist, Alina Kalczinska. The poster carries the values of the famous Polish School of Posters.The design is an expessive painted composition; it expresses the dynamism of the dance. The artist used a vivid background and intensive colors, in order to reflect the freshness of the performance.
The artist studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, from where she graduated with honors in 1959. She has been a member of the XYLON International Association of Woodcutters since 1972. Midway through the 1970s the artist began to create prints.... Alina Kalczynska has won many awards for her achievements in the graphic arts and in 1997 received a Diploma from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland for her exceptional achievements in support of Polish culture. That same year the artist and activist was a recipient of an Award of the Voivode of Krakow, bestowed upon her by professor Jacek Majchrowski. (source: culture.pl)
