Huge Old Senufo Village Guardian sculpture, African ArtThis is a wonderfully abstract old Village Guardian sculpture from the Senufo peoples of the Ivory Coast. This sculpture was carved from a single piece of heavy dense wood and was placed at the entrance to the village, and adorned by locals with flowers and other vegetation, as a sign of respect to their guardian. The head area is worn smooth from the hands of many people over the years. Note the oil stains around the neck from repeated adornment.
