(The Book of the Balance of Time)] , translated by Pierre Fromage, S.J.Nierebmerg and Abdallah Zakher , first Arabic edition , printed in Arabic withing ruled borders, typographical ornaments, some scattered foxing, preliminary and penultimate leaves browned, some dampstaining to lower margins (rarely affecting text), some scattered spotting, a few small chips and closed tears to margins (some repaired), early inscriptions to endpapers, contemporary morocco, blind-stamped and tooled, remains of label to spine, lightly rubbed and scuffed, [Nasrallah p.37], 4to, Lebanon, Dair as-Shuwair, [1734]. The first book printed at the monastery of St.John the Baptist at Dair as-Shuwair in Lebanon, and also the first Arabic text printed in Arabic in the Lebanon. The press, known for its fine Arabic type, was founded by Abdallah Zahir (1684-1748) and operated between 1743 and 1899.
