A choice Persian ceramic flask, c. 4th - 3rd Century BC, molded, one half in the form of a stylized turtle geometric decoration and raised boar and goat amidst rosettes. The opposite side with raised shield device within beaded border, rosettes above and stylized device below, within an armed figure in combat with a rampant lion, small vertical spout with loop handle. H: 4 5/8 in (11.7 cm). Intact with crème slip, few minor chips and light deposits. A rare and most interesting piece! Ex Los Angeles private collection.
