This piece has alight overall dust build up. This painting has been restretched and relined. Under black light this piece has a significant varnish layer that is masking restoration. However, to the naked eye it appears this painting surface has been significantly over cleaned - removing most of the patin on the upper 3/4ths of the painting, and there is significant over-painting. The original area left is the two figure and some ground around. There figure has some impasto crushing light craquelure, and light yellowing. There is are a few lines of in painting in the sitting figure's skirt, and over-painting darkening to the figure's sweater. There is some surfing to the surface in the upper left corner and some several faint surface scratches on the lower half of the painting visible in grazing light - these scratches are visible in grazing light. There is a 1" tear in the canvas on the middle of the right edge. This painting shows well although it has extensive restoration.
