Item Details
Description
A late 19th century portrait brooch. Hand painted to depict a lady and set within a frame held within a scrolled surmount. Length 6.5cms. Weight 33.3gms.
Condition
Overall good condition. Surface scratches to the metal work, heavy discolouration to the reverse of the portrait setting. One of the shell features to the surmount is loose. To the left of the portrait is an inscription in French, partially legible it reads 'illegible - 1857 - D'apres De La Tour 1822. 'The central oval panel comes out of the scrolled surmount
