Description
20th century, Republic period. Tall baluster vase decorated in overglaze enamels to depict a peacock standing on a rock amidst peonies and magnolia in the style of Qing court painter, Lang Shining (Guiseppe Castiglione). On the reverse is a poem by Emperor Qianlong depicting this scene accompanied by two seals, one for Emperor Qianlong, the other for Shining (Lang Shining). Floral lappets and borders around the neck and foot ring painted in iron red and gold overglaze enamels. Iron red and gold six character zhuanshu Qianlong mark and black stamped “Made in China†to base. Approx. 18 1/2 by 7 1/2 in., 47 by 19 cm.
