Description
19th century, Daoguang period, Qing dynasty. Of archaic form, the flared neck above a globular center, supported on a bell-shaped foot. Finely painted against a lime green ground are the 'Eight Buddhist Emblems" amidst lotus flower meander, plantain leaf lappets border the base of the neck, key fret bands at the base of the neck and foot, and ruyi borders at the rim and top of the foot, the interior and underside of the foot glazed turquoise. Six-character iron red Daoguang mark in a line around the base of the neck. Approx. 10 7/8 by 6 in., 27.5 by 15 cm.
