Description
Mediterranean area, off coast of Italy, Sardinia, Ca 7th century BCE. An exceedingly rare bronze statuette of cavalryman atop his steed. Abstract horse with thin belly and long thin muzzle, with soldier atop carrying long sword on his left side, hands holding the horse's reigns. Insertion tangs on each pair of legs. 2-3/8"H x 1-3/4"L.
Provenance: Ex-Dr. Charles Smithen, Palm Beach, FL acquired before 1990.
