Description
American School, late 19th/ early 20th century. "Portrait of a Stately Gentleman", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Painting depicts a middle aged gentleman seated at waist length at a three quarter angle, the man with loose brown hair over a high hairline, hooded brow, blue eyes, and slightly smiling lips, wearing a black suit over white high collared shirt with slim bow tie at neck, white pocket square in coat pocket, and pinky ring to left hand that is resting up on his left knee, with right hand resting on opposite knee. Framed approximately 48 5/8" x 41", unframed approximately 40" x 32".
